Bentley EXP 15

Defining Bentley’s next chapter. As the marque moved toward a digital, electric future, the challenge was not simply to digitise the cabin, but to preserve the sense of craftsmanship, ceremony and emotional connection that has defined the brand for a century. The opportunity was to treat light, motion and digital interaction as forms of craft within themselves and ensure that the product was experience led. Where technology was always in service to a functional requirement or building an emotional connection and creating unique brand moments throughout the journey.

The vision was anchored around three core experience modes: Bentley, Sport and Comfort. Across welcome, entry, various journey stories and depart, physical and digital elements were choreographed as one continuous experience. A ‘Mechanical Marvel’ centrepiece became the focal expression of this thinking, combining crafted physical execution, orchestrated movement, intelligent lighting and transparent-display UI into a single expression of communication.

As UX Lead, the role spanned strategy, narrative development and art direction, leading four UI and lighting designers alongside the Interior and Visualisation Design teams, working closely with Design Director Robin Page. From early storyboarding through to hard-key and soft-key exploration and UI ideation, the work established an experience canvas across the cabin and a complete asset library for visualisation and physical model execution. Close supplier collaboration and art direction extended through to the show-car reveal film, keynote presentation and VR experience.

The result challenged the prevailing language of performance cars in a digital age. Rather than foregrounding data, screens and technical spectacle, it used technology to restore tactility and connection, positioning light, experience and interaction as extensions of Bentley craftsmanship. Revealed at the opening of Bentley’s new design studio in Crewe and subsequently shown internationally, the concept demonstrated how an electric future could feel deeply human, whilst authentically evolving Bentley’s rich history and heritage.
